POSITION:            2024-2025 Certificated Administrative: Temporary 1 Year - Dean of Students 1.0 fte

LOCATION:           Mt. Stuart Elementary  

REPORTS TO:        Principal 

 

PURPOSE:  Maintain safety of the school environment, evaluate certificated and classified staff, provide instructional leadership, and assist building principal in providing consistent support for students in behavior management and academic achievement. Position posted for 10 days – with 1st screening on day 5.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise certificated and classified staff, in partnership with the building principal
  • Provide leadership and on-going support in the transition to the PBIS program
  • Supervise student areas before school, after school, and during lunches
  • Administer discipline to students with office referrals
  • Provide leadership in managing a safe school with attention paid to emergency procedures
  • Monitor attendance and discipline data for student and develop intervention plans as needed
  • Supervise work-study and other organized groups of students from CWU
  • Coordinate with the building principal and school counselors to create individual student plans for success as needed
  • Communicate with families regarding student behavior, attendance, and academic progress
  • Assist the principal with the processes of selecting, supporting, evaluating, and retaining high quality instructional and support staff
  • Represent the school to maintain on-going community support
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness procedures, implement and document monthly emergency response drills, and assist with safety planning for the new building
  • Participate in professional development to improve skills related to the job assignment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Principal and/or Superintendent

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated understanding of the use of the Skyward student management system Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and facilitate a process towards solutions Demonstrated knowledge of PBIS Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in assignments or situations Demonstrated high level of computer proficiency Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and interact successfully with all school district staff and students Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner Demonstrated successful experience in working with elementary level students

Educational/Vocational Preparation Occupational Certificates/Licenses

  • Washington State teaching certificate appropriate to assignment. Endorsements,

 Special certification and/or license required for specific assignment.

  • Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check
