POSITION: Head Girls’ Fastpitch Coach
LOCATION: Ellensburg High School
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
JOB SUMMARY: To ensure student/athletes have a positive experience while teaching them the fundamental skills of Fast Pitch, mental toughness, and teamwork. Supervise and direct all assistant coaches and student athletes in accordance with Ellensburg School District Policy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Carry out the objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Athletic Director.
- Instruct participants in individual, group, and team techniques, tactics, and physical training necessary for the realization of success.
- Implement teaching and coaching philosophies consistent with the Ellensburg School District’s Mission Statement.
- Provide supervision, education and direction of student participants in the fastpitch program.
- Provide positive and effective leadership and training to the assistant coaching staff.
- Attend athletic staff meetings and workshops.
- Participate in pre-season meetings.
- Manage inventory needs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.
- Must have a current First Aid and CPR Certificate and be versed in related preventative health and training standards.
- Must complete Blood Borne Pathogen and Sexual Harassment Training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous playing or coaching experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of coaching techniques in the areas of skill development, strategy, and interpersonal team relations.
- Meet and maintain coaching standards as determined by the District and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
- Ability to work in a positive, supportive manner with student participants, parents, coaches, school administration and staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively with student participants, parents, coaches, school administration and staff.
- Ability to work as a responsible member of a coaching staff in full cooperation with other coaches and the Athletic Director.
