POSITION: Director of Accounting

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director of Finance and Operations

PURPOSE: The job of the Director of Accounting was established for the purpose of providing leadership over the accounting, purchasing and payroll functions for the Ellensburg School District.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITITES:

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to legal statutes; organizational rules, etc.; performing accounting procedures; performing standard bookkeeping; planning and managing projects; PowerPoint - Basic; preparing and maintaining accurate records; Spreadsheet/Excel - Advanced Skills; using pertinent software applications; Word Processing –

KNOWLEDGE is required to utilize theoretical mathematical concepts; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: accounting/bookkeeping principles; financial practices; basic office computer; concepts of grammar and punctuation; standard office machinery.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; maintaining a professional work environment; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; working with frequent interruptions; Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices
